10 Steps to Make Simple Latte Art from a Nestle Dolce Gusto

10 Steps to Make Simple Latte Art from a Nestle Dolce Gusto

The Origin of Latte Art

Latte is undoubtedly one of the most popular choices for milk coffee lovers. Created from a blend of dark coffee, milk and froth, it is a perennial favorite. If espresso conveys allure, latte remains its sweeter, gentler companion, fulfilling the ultimate aesthetic of latte art and great taste.

It is perhaps understandable to presume that the art of coffee decoration to have originated somewhere in Europe, such as Italy or France, but that credit goes to the city of Seattle in the United States, home to Starbucks, the world-renowned coffee chain. Although not invented by Starbucks, it is an unbelievable twist in the history of coffee culture.

The owner of Espresso Vivace in Seattle shared a love for coffee and design by turning a standard coffee into drinkable art. It has now gained worldwide popularity since it’s first appearance in 1990.

1. Choose your favorite coffee capsule

Choosing coffee capsule flavors such as fruity, floral, nutty or chocolate is a great start. The capsule makes it easier to make your favorite coffee. So whether your pick is espresso, americano, mocha, cappuccino or latte, enjoy a delicious start to your morning.

2. Prepare an espresso coffee

Choosing a coffee base like espresso is an important step. Make an espresso shot by choosing a coffee capsule and placing it in the coffee machine to start the process of making latte art.

3. Prepare cold milk

It is important to freeze your milk before making latte art, and then pour the cold milk into a pitcher designed for steaming.

4. Steaming the milk

Essential to this process is that the bubbles in the milk froth should not be too thick or large. The finely-textured milk should be creamy in appearance to create a microfoam. In order to maintain the flavor of milk, steam at approximately 60-70 degrees.

5. Steam the milk, maintaining balance.

This next step requires care. To be able to create clean lines on the foam, aim for a well-balanced texture as this will affect the designs on the foam.

6. Prepare the foam

Tap the pitcher and swirl the milk foam around as a base mixture for the latte art.

7. Make the mix

Pour the milk into the center of the crema on the espresso shot by holding the pitcher a few inches away from the coffee cup and then, lift your pitcher up once the milk and espresso have mixed.

8. Begin the pattern

After the milk and espresso shot are well mixed, pour the milk into the pitcher again and lift the pitcher closer to the cup in order to create a continuous pattern.

9. Express Yourself. Use a toothpick to create your latte art

Once you’ve poured the foam into the espresso mix, use a toothpick to help create the clean lines of your pattern on the head of the coffee.

10. Your beautiful latte art is ready to serve.

Finally, savor your latte art before enjoying a well-earned coffee.
